This person could really use some escapism. They have a decent library and I can send books. I think maybe series could be good or just a good perspective changing stand alone. They are taking a break from the Dune series and reading Black Swan currently.

if he likes dan brown’s puzzle-solving style, maybe try the robert langdon series by steve berry? they have that same historical mystery vibe but with different characters and settings.
