m 21y old and i want to read more. I used to read a ton as a kid, mostly adventure for kids, such as Beast quest, Famous five, Harry Potter… Now i read mostly high fantasy, and i like it a lot, however right now i dont have too much time to read and high fantasy feels too overwhelming when i cant get into it properly (when i have lots of time to read). So im looking for something more lightweight, something that can capture the feeling of the books i used to read as a kid. I even tried reading them again but they were too childlike for me. Are there any similar young adult alternatives? Something intriguing yet simple, a book where it doesnt feel like a chore to read minimum one chapter per day but also that can suck you in and make you stay up all night reading. Not sure if im too specific or just nostalgic but i would appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks

A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik
The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman
Maybe Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Have you tried Brandon Sanderson? He has big epic series, but also standalone novels that are easy entry points. You might try Warbreaker.
Red Rising series
Dark Matter and Recursion
Project Hail Mary and The Martian
Mans Search for Meaning (non fiction)
If you don’t mind cozy sci-fi Nathan Lowell has his solar clipper series it has several sequels and spinoffs. Very fun read not too heavy a read. If you have time listen to the original serialized version read by the author.
He has a soft fantasy series .Tanyth Fairport about a woman transitioning through the 3 phases of womanhood. (Better than it sounds. ) both have audio books.

I read *Isle of Luke* earlier this month and really enjoyed it. Great pace and characterization to keep each chapter gripping.
