I’m trying to find a book that gives you slice of life family drama/comedy, but fantasy. Urban or high, I don’t mind, but definitely more fantastic than magic realism. A strong romance is a plus.
However it should be about an ORDINARY family, not royal or noble. Maybe someone’s cousin married a down and out second son of a minor noble line, but if there’s money in the family, it’s middling merchant-class.
It’s a plus if the family has some inhuman heritage at least, but it’s not required.

It’s science fiction rather than fantasy, but some of Kage Baker’s Company series might help scratch your itch. Especially the first three (In The Garden of Iden, Sky Coyote, and Mendoza in Hollywood) and the short stories.
