I’m gonna be 27 soon. I used to be an avid reader when I was younger and am trying to read more books now that I’m an adult. Are there any books that have changed your life that you think would be beneficial to read before the age of 30?

I think this changes by person. Of course you can look at all the lists or whatever of books to read before you die or books you must read etc. and they do have some merit. But what changes you as a person is so deeply personal it can’t be compiled
Some that shaped me are these:
-piranesi by Susanna Clarke
-never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro
-the road by Cormac McCarthy
-wuthering heights by Emily Brontë
-parable of the sower by Octavia butler
-demon copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
-the goldfinch by Donna Tartt
-lonesome dove by Larry McMurtry
-Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
Atomic Habits by James Clear
29 here. I don’t have particular books that I’ve read before 30, but I’ve noticed that my reading habits have changed quite a bit. I’m more so making an effort to diversify my reading and challenge myself to read genres that I don’t usually go for straight away. Maybe review the types of books you’re reading and if you’re usually sticking to the same thing, look at other genres?
Adam Smith wealth of nations
Aldos Huxley Brave new World
Jesus H. Christ Bible
Marque de Sade La philosophie dans le boudoir
and lastly
………………………..
Hot take. Read books that make you happy. Even if they are written for children/are trashy romance/trending on social media/whatever. Because the best part about entering your 30s and beyond is being old enough to know what you like and not have to give a crap about what everyone else is doing. 🙂
