I fell in love with the Dollanganger and the Casteel series this year.
So I'm looking for more gothic books with similar melodramatic taboo storylines, that easily keep your attention at every turn.
I also prefer reading books that are more so from a female perspective or have very prominent female characters.

Andrew Neiderman who became her ghost writer. He has a book called Pin that has been described as the same sort of “Laura Ashley gothic” style.
ETA: Jeffrey Eugenides’ The Virgin Suicides also probably fits the bill.
