A while ago a dear childhood friend of mine passed away suddenly at just 23. Before he died he had been trying to see me for a while but I kept postponing for reasons that feel so trivial now. At first I thought I had processed it relatively well but recently it’s all been hitting me at once. I’ve been feeling waves of sadness, guilt, anger and existential anxiety and it’s been hard to cope.

I’m looking for books that deal honestly with grief and death, not necessarily something comforting but something real. Any recommendations would mean a lot. Movies would be fine too.

    1. Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune was a comforting book for me when I was going through a period of bereavement.
