Books that I have read recently and really enjoyed include I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb, Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, Cutting For Stone by Abraham Verghese, Cider House Rules by John Irving, The Absolutist by John Boyne, Beloved by Toni Morrison, A Thousand Acres by Jane Smiley, and anything by Terry Pratchett. Bonus points for suggestions that are off the beaten path — I'd like to broaden my horizons. Thanks!
