Haven’t read in a longgg time
I’m a female in my 20s, feel like my brain finds nothing interesting enough to stick with anything or even comprehend so I’m after a somewhat easy read. By easy I mean not too confusing, no big words. I really don’t know what sort of books I’d enjoy as haven’t read since primary school.
Maybe knowledgeable books? Mental health, smut, lgbtq, murder, I don’t know lol just need somewhere to start and see if I can actually focus enough to remember what I read and am able to continue.
If anyones also been in similar situation where usually you’d attempt to read and not feel like you even consumed anything but now you can read well I’d absolutely love to hear it to give me hope 😅

Girl I was exactly same situation few years ago! My brain would just wander after like 2 pages and I’d realize I didn’t absorb anything.
What worked for me was starting with really short books – like “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” is super engaging and easy to follow, or for murder stuff maybe “The Thursday Murder Club” since it’s not too heavy. Also audiobooks helped me a lot in beginning because I could focus better when someone was reading to me.
I have ADHD and read all the time. I still have to reread pages all the time. Most of the time it isn’t too big a deal but sometimes I just have to close the book for the night.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is popular right now and high action.
I enjoyed a book called Chasing the White Dog. It is non fiction about moonshine in the US and had funny moments.
I recommend excellent children’s books. The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder. A pioneer family struggles to survive a series of blizzards.
i agree with the other comments, short books are the way to go from a fellow adhd reader! to try scifi i reccomend all systems red by martha wells, to try horror i reccomend we have always lived in the castle by shirley jackson, and for fantasy i reccomend the river has roots by amal el-mohtar! those three are all under 200 pages. also reading graphic novels really helped me get back into reading. k o’neill makes adorable queer fantasy graphic novels that reall sparked by love for the genre! a song for you and i and the tea dragon society are my personal favorites. the girl from the sea by lee knox ostertag and snapdragon by kat leyh are two another amazing graphic novels. good luck in ur search!!🩷🩷
