Any Murakami is a good bet. Thinking of other Japanese authors, I enjoyed Butter by Asako Yuzuki, currently reading and enjoying Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami and There’s No Such Thing as an Easy Job by Kikuko Tsumura.
