Something that’s a real page turner, and maybe changed your perspective or made you reflect on your own life. I don’t care about genre.
Ideally something <350 pages, and not so old that I have to look up like 5 words on every page just to understand what they’re saying lol
Books I’ve liked over the past few years:
The Picture of Dorian Gray
The Talented Mr. Ripley
Sula
Small Things Like These
Everything I Never Told You
Books I remember liking in school:
Frankenstein
Macbeth
Julius Caesar
Lord of the Flies
A Clockwork Orange (this was NOT required reading lol, we just had to pick any classic for free reading time)

Leinigen versus the Ants is only about 20 pages
The Maltese Falcon, a noir detective novel. Not gonna change your life at all, but a lot of turns and you have no idea what anybody is going to do next.
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes
The Count of Monte Cristo, although this is longer than your cutoff
A Tale of Two Cities, Dickens
The Awakening, Kate Chopin
Endurance by Alfred Lansing
