I recently developed a habit of walking and listening to audiobooks. I have listened to Demon Copperhead and Circe and loved both! I guess I felt an affinity for Demon, having known a few with similar lots in life. And though I’m not from Virginia, as someone from a place with thick accents, it felt like hearing old lore.
The narrator in Circe was incredible. I could listen to her all day. Her voice is like honey.
A few misses for me:
I tried to listen to another Kingsolver book, but I think I need *production* value, or something. Almost immediate no.
Maisie Dobbs – fine, not gripping. I’m 40% through and I’m not sure I’ll finish.
Not a *miss* but I’ve started Tom Lake and I’m not sure it’s my vibe. I do love Meryl Streep though. No shade there.
Currently listening to Everything is Tuberculosis, and it’s wildly interesting, but I think I want more of a *story* to get lost in while I walk.
I am repeatedly lapping my neighborhood. It’s a bit boring, so I want a book that will pull me in immediately and keep me. I’m open to almost anything plot based, but no suicide or harm to children (I know that Demon runs afoul of this rule, but I didn’t know what I was getting into when I started).
THANK YOU

I recently binged The Heaven And Earth Grocery Store. James was also great. Both had excellent narrators.
You can also search for other books narrated by the Circe narrator that you liked!
You may be into r/audiodrama! They were my gateway to audiobooks.
The Raven Cycle books narrated by Will Patton. Anything narrated by him is usually good. He does a few Stephen King books, too. The Outsider and Doctor Sleep are both really good. And if you don’t mind a long book, he does a great job on Lonesome Dove.
P. Djèlí Clark’s Ring Shout is an amazing audiobook. There are sections of singing in the book and the reader actually sings! It’s a really great very scary book about if the KKK was made up of actual demons from hell.
