Hi, I’m a big fan of Stephen King since I’m 11 (I’m M41) and saw a lot of posts about disturbing books in this sub. I’m also fan of Palahniuk books. From this sub I read some weird things like Blood Meridian from Cormac McCarthy. The last book I read was Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho, and damn I was not ready for this after seeing the movie 20 years ago. I rewatched it just after finishing the book, and as good the movie adaptation is, it felt like watching a Disney movie. What are the most fucked up books that you’ve read?

A Woman in Berlin by Anonymous ( the author has since been identified and all events confirmed by historians ). The author was a journalist who was in Berlin when it fell to the red army in WW2 and the book is her account of basically trying to avoid being raped by drunk Russians. Its brutal but a great read.
House of leaves for sure !
Tender is the Flesh would be right up your alley
The Sublimes by Yuri Mamleyev
Blake Crouch had some really horrifying books that do not have happy endings. He has a trilogy about a serial killer twin that kidnaps his brother and that series is so twisted. Highly recommend.
Harlan Ellison really knows how to get to you, most famously with “I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream,” but he was a very prolific author.
I also really like Clive Barker’s short stories, especially the early Books of Blood collections.
Full Brutal by Kritopher Triana is similar to American Psycho, except with a high school girl instead of a corporate douchebag.
Triana is probably the only writer in the extreme horror genre I really like now. Recently read The Old Lady and that’s now my favourite of his, but I also enjoyed Gone to See the River Man and They All Died Screaming. That last one and Full Brutal are probably the most fucked up.
