I've been tryna get back into reading after a couple or so years and am looking for some book suggestions, specifically fiction. I'm mostly looking for novellas, owing to my short attention span when it comes to reading haha. I recently finished Metamorphosis by Kafka & Animal Farm by Orwell and wanna grab my next read soon. Would be cool if y'all suggest some underrated novellas, I mean the not so popular ones!

Hunger by Choi Jinyoung comes out in June, and you should definitely check it out! In the meantime, I recommend Foster by Claire Keegan, which is an award-winner but definitely deserving of that achievement
Engine Summer by John Crowley, a strange cozy postapocalypse.
‘The Old Man And The Sea’ is pretty gripping and only 100 pages long. Would strongly recommend.
I recommend Tea for Two by Amor Towles which is a collection of 6 outstanding short stories (even better for short attention span and one novella. I borrowed this book from the library and loved it so much I bought it.
Different Seasons by Stephen King is a collection of 4 good novellas, and it’s not a classic.
If you’re looking for classics like Animal Farm, try “Brave New Word” by Aldous Huxley and “1984” by Orwell.
Hmmm, my favourite shorter books don’t much resemble Metamorphosis or Animal Farm, but as you’ve asked, I enjoyed A Month in the Country by JL Carr, Doctor Glas by Hjalmar Söderberg and Cold Enough for Snow by Jessica Au. All of these are a bit more “emotion/relationship forward” and a bit less “big idea forward” compared to the titles you’ve named.
Bushrangers Revenge by Nicolas v. M.
