My kids (both 12F) and I love to listen to audio books when we are on road trips. Last year, I lucked upon a few that we all really enjoyed, but this year I am coming up short and vacation is 8 short (hopefully) weeks away.

There are the two we most enjoyed last year:

    – Don’t Believe Her by Nicola Sanders

    – One By One by Freida McFadden

We also listened to The Widow’s Husband’s Secret by Freida McFadden which we all agreed was not great but we still talk and laugh about it to this day.

Our trip is about 7 hours and we listen at 1.5x speed so we can get through a pretty decent size book in that time.

Also, I’m a heavy reader and I don’t really want to listen to something that’s already in my Read list, but maybe some of your suggestions will have me dive deeper into some authors I’m not extremely familiar with.

More mystery, less thriller, Flavia de Luce books – first one is Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie

Fully agree with Good Girls Guide to Murder (and series)

    2. **The red palace by June Hur** is a really interesting murder mystery set in 18th century Korea with young adult investigators (some coming of age in there too).

**Chasing the boogeyman by Richard Chizmar** is a good thriller, written as pseudo true crime from the pov of a man in the small town where the killing is happening. I liked the audiobook.

Not a traditional thriller but **Troublemaker by John Cho** is a really good middle grade book with solid stakes. I enjoyed the audiobook.

You might like A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, it’s really engaging and works well as an audiobook. Also Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson has a great mystery vibe without being too heavy. Both are pretty solid for road trips and easy to follow at faster speeds.
