I loved Abercrombie’s The First Law and Age of Madness trilogies. Eagerly awaiting Buehlman’s Thrice Bound Fool. Loved Between Two Fires and The Library at Mt Char. Just finished Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose — I’d give them a 4 and 3.5 out of 5 respectively. KotW was an absolute trip but had a rushed ending. I loved Uprooted as well. Just looking for a series or standalone with solid prose, maybe a dash of humor, and some horror elements. Something written with an adult audience in mind as well.
Note: I could not get into Empire of Silence; the writing was a little too archaic, and the homage to Dune was really overdone. Not trying to yuck anyone’s yum, just heading this recommendation off at the pass. Lies of Locke Lamora also was not for me.
