Hey everyone, I am trying to find a book whose characters focus more on the decision-making side of war rather than following soldiers on the front lines. Particularly interested in stories with multiple POVs from different sides, where the main characters are generals, strategists, or advisors planning and reacting to each other.
Basically, looking for something where the emphasis is on strategy and politics more than the action itself. Open to any time period (except for modern era) as long as it has that kind of back-and-forth between opposing sides. Appreciate any suggestions!

The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara
The books written by his son Jeff Shaarra are good as well, same format, but none as good as the Killer Angels.
Civilizations by Laurent Binet
