I just finished Pillars of the Earth and loved how it made me feel like I was actually living in that time period. Not just the big events but the small daily stuff too. Can anyone recommend a trilogy with that same grounded medieval earth feel. I want characters I can follow across multiple books while learning about regular life back then. No heavy fantasy or magic please. Just solid historical fiction that makes the past feel real and human.

pillars was amazing for that daily life stuff. you might want to check out bernard cornwell’s saxon stories series – its more than trilogy but follows uhtred across his whole life and really gets into how people actually lived back then. the way he describes everything from making weapons to what they ate feels so real
also heard good things about the accursed kings series but havent read it myself yet. supposed to be very detailed about court life and politics in medieval france
*Kristen Lavransdatter*, by Sigrid Undset (3 volume set tells the story of a 14th century woman’s life in Norway)
