    hi! (oops typod the title)

i really liked reading back in elementary school and i often visited the library and got gifted books on xmas etc.

i haven't touched a book in years. i just stopped for some reason, got interested in other hobbies and forms of entertainment and the bookworm i once was got left behind.

back then i used to just read anything that caught my eye at the library but mostly stuff i found at the teens section like harry potter, narnia, artemis fowl, hunger games etc. then a little later i enjoyed borrowing some more mature finnish detective/whodunit books from my grandma.

nowadays my tastes in fiction are a little different.

my favourite tv shows are true detective s01 and hannibal, so i still am into the more mysterious detective kind stories.

im hugely into manga, my favourites being made in abyss, oyasumi punpun, look back, girls last tour, shimeji simulation, parasite in love, dead dead demons dededestruction, for example.
and some anime of course. monster, flcl, the summer hikaru died (manga too) and silent voice.

i love interesting worlds/settings and weird "missions" in them.

like the last two girls alive, travelling to the top of the world that is built in layers (girls last tour), with thought provoking and beautiful metaphors about life
or a world that has a huge bottomless hole in the middle filled with mysterious life and places that you cannot ascend from once you go in (made in abyss)

i also like more psychological, and sadder stories, premises and characters who battle with their mental health. i also adore when serious topics like those are explored and told in beautiful, metaphoric, or even poetic ways. i love art, i draw and paint so stories that are about artists struggles like the manga blue period and look back are close to my heart too.

sorry if it's a little rambly or incoherent, im not very good at explaining specific things i like about.. things..

    1. You might enjoy The Gone World by Tom Sweterlitsch, an intense, trippy, sci-fi thriller. I’ve heard quite a few people compare it to True Detective S01, and I can see that a bit. It’s a pretty unique, engaging ride, featuring murder, secret government agencies, and alternate realities.

For a fun, dark fantasy novel featuring a fairly unique ‘mission’ in a creative world that’s an alternate-history-medieval-fantasy twist on Europe, check out The Devils by Joe Abercrombie. Featuring a great cast of supernatural ‘baddies’ you’ll come to love, great banter/dialogue, and lots of dark humor.

David Mitchell’s Number 9 Dream takes place in Tokyo and is influenced by manga.
