My former best friend who I experienced all of life's major milestones with: weddings, grief and loss, new motherhood, and I drifted apart and have had some warm, acquaintance-like interactions over the last few years.
I recently learned through the grapevine that she had another baby, and am surprised at how heartbroken I am to realize I am truly on the outside looking in on her life now; it's such a stark difference between being right by her side the first time around.
