I want to gift a book to my aunt, who is in her 50s. She loves reading and has likely already read most of the popular titles. Could you suggest something engaging and unique?
been struggling with this same problem for my mom actually. older readers who devour books are tough to shop for since they’ve probably hit all the mainstream stuff already
what kind of genres does your aunt usually go for? that would help narrow it down a lot. but if she’s open to different stuff, maybe look into some translated literature – lot of amazing books from other countries that don’t get as much attention here. or maybe some indie authors who write really solid work but aren’t on every bestseller list
i found few gems by just browsing the staff picks section at local bookstore instead of going for the front table displays. those librarians and bookstore workers usually know their stuff and can point you toward something that feels fresh even for heavy readers
worst case you could always go with beautiful hardcover edition of something she might want to reread, but that’s probably playing it too safe
