So I read a story online that roughly goes as follows:

Humans are considered the “terrifying monsters/freaks” of the universe, aliens are terrified of them and avoid contact, they are considered murderous beasts without any morals or anything.

The mc is a human trapped in an alien cell for a long time. Two young ish aliens are thrown in the human’s cell to be eaten, they are terrified. They slowly bond and then they end up escaping (mostly by human strength) and get picked up by the aliens friends.

Then it becomes a found family situation where they slowly overcome language barriers and learn about each other and it’s all very cool and wholesome (the human stays with them and can’t go back to Earth, not that they wanted to, and they are very capable the whole time. They can fight and are very smart but still very kind to the aliens)

And I am desperately craving that again.

I really want to read a book where humans are terrifying beasts to aliens and a (or a group) of aliens get close to one. Ideally with some sort of happy ending. The focus being on their relationship/interactions whatever type that may be. I don’t know if a book actually exists with what I’m searching for but i’m hoping the great minds of reddit can provide anything remotely similar.

(Bonus points if there are language/culture barriers they overcome, mc is the human, mc is capable but kind, human is somehow alone w/ only the aliens as company)

    Thank you!!

C J Cherryh’s books often go like that, Faded Sun or Pride of Chanur might fit the bill.
