What are your favourite books that are available in the Public Domain?
I have been reading through the some of the more popular titles over the past couple years and it has really grown my love of classic literature. What have you read that may not be as well know as the Dickens, Austen, etc. classics but was a great read?

**The Enchanted April**, by Elizabeth von Arnim
**Ethan Frome**, by Edith Wharton. (Or anything else by her, but that one is short so might be a good starter.)
Buddenbrooks. Ironically I think the older translation available on Gutenberg is better than the newer translation.
Look up Mary Elizabeth Braddon: (she has a ton!)
Lady Audley’s Secret
Charlotte’s Inheritance (this is Part 1)
Birds of Prey (this is Part 2)
Fenton’s Quest
Also,
Valley of the Giants – Peter B Kyne
The Alaskan – James Oliver Curwood
The Red House Mystery – AA Milne (Milne created Winnie the Pooh but he wrote this mystery for his dad)
The Extraordinary Adventures of Arsène Lupin – Maurice LeBlanc
The Club of Queer Trades – GK Chesterton
Evelina by Fanny Burney (apparently she was one of Jane Austen’s favorite authors)
