hello!! ive been getting back into reading recently and have found some books that captured that same fixation i had in middle school that allowed me to read books in a couple of days !! its been really nice and i was wondering if you all had any recommendations for me. i like non fiction about random peoples lives, helping people, politics, history, stuff like that ! ideally anti capitalist but it doesnt have to be. i also really like historical books either about like how terrible our government is, random interesting things and people, or people fighting/organizing against that, especially in creative ways ! below is a list of books i have enjoyed !
– mountains beyond mountains by tracy something
– endurance (idk who its by its about shackleton)
– revolutionary suicide by huey p newton
– how to hide an empire
– rats idk who by (new york city rat book)
– oysters idk who by (new york city oyster book)
– economic hitman by john perkins
– there was also a book about the innocence project i dont remember the name of
any help is greatly appreciated !!

I’m not really sure if this meets your specifications, because there’s not an anti-capitalist vibe to it, but matching history/biography is The Wright Brothers by David McCullough.
I’d also recommend The Radium Girls by Kate Moore.
You’d probably dig “The Shock Doctrine” – it’s basically capitalism as disaster profiteering told through real stories of people getting absolutely wrecked by it. Also check out anything about the Black Panthers beyond just Huey’s book, there’s some wild organizing stories that read like heist novels but actually happened.
