The second part of the trilogy takes place in the past a few decades before the present.
The final part of the trilogy follows characters from the present who travel to the past. In order to create a new and better future.

oh this is such a specific setup and i love it when books do that kind of structure thing. i cant think of any trilogies that follow that exact pattern but there are definitely some series that play with similar time jumping concepts where you get different perspectives across timelines
maybe try looking into some sci-fi series that do the whole “fix the timeline” angle since thats basically what youre describing with that third part. the structure you want sounds really satisfying when done right
