Please, recommend me books so i can learn more about Africa, but from female perspective. I would like to read at least one author per country (in englesh or spanish)
I have read:
– nawal el saadawi (egypt)
– behold the dreamers, by imbolo mbue (cameroon – loved it!)
– so distant from my life, by monique ilboudo (burkina faso – highly recommend it)
– the madwoman of serrano – dina salustio ( cape verde – first female novelist from there)
– go tell the sun, by Wame M Molefhe (Botsuana – short stories that tells you a lot about the modern costumes of the botsuana)
– stones in my pocket, by kaouther adimi (argelia)
– that hair, by Djaimilia Pereira de Almeida (angola – bit difficult for my cause was more like an essay, but make me realize and think thing about hair/colonialism that ive never thought before)
– nervous conditions, by tsitsi dangarembga (zimbabue – also one of my favorites)
– blessed are the death, by malla nuun (suaziland – really good, its a police one with a lot of historical facts about southafrican apartheid)
Thank you!!
