Hello. I’m not here to cast any hate or shade. I’m genuinely asking for suggestions for books for a male reader adult aged. I ask because the entire top 100 (or close to it) book lists on almost any source is either A. Female audience aimed smut / female audience relationship drama. Or if you look up “for males” it’s all self help books, or “author – navy seal title how to man up” besides project Hail Mary and dungeon crawler Carl. Which I enjoyed both btw. I’m looking for a list of books for a male adult audience that fits this seemly very niche request. I like sci fi, fiction, fantasy, non fiction, eldrich horror, mystery, dystopian. pretty much anything to give my mind a break from playing video games and get reading back into my rotation of hobbies.

Thanks in advance. And again, even though I complained above about certain genres, I don’t mind that they exist, it’s just very hard to find anything but that.

Which top 100 are you looking at? Just a contemporary one? What you’re asking for isn’t exactly niche. There are a lot of books that aren’t military memoirs or self help. Authors like Michael Crichton, David Baldacci, John Sanford, Robert Crais, Kathy Reichs, John Grisham, Lee Child, Harlan Coben, Michael Connelly, Stephen Hunter and Robin Cook come to mind.

Top 100 lists are not great for quality writing, but looking up books “for males” will also not get you the kinds of stories that I think you’re after. I don’t think you want *gendered* stories at all, I think you’re looking for good writing with an interesting premise, yes?

How many of the classics have you read? Or the typical high school / college reading lists? They’re great, timeless books, and very readable regardless of your gender.

      *The Giver*
      *Lord of the Flies*
      *Fahrenheit 451*

      *The Hobbit*
      *Lord of the Rings* trilogy
      *Game of Thrones* series
      *The Golden Compass* trilogy

Stephen King for thrillers and horror (*Carrie* is a very short read if you’d like to check out his writing style).

For non-fiction, try *The Perfect Storm*. Absolutely gripping story, very intense.

For a more melancholy, serious read, you can try *Stoner* by John Williams.

There are a thousand other examples I could give, but none of these are for a female audience or have a heavy focus on female-centric relationship drama.

    3. I just finished Lord Of The Flies and The Sirens Of Titan.

LoTF is really great. But The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut is a real page turner.
