Two years ago, I asked this sub to recommend me something garbage to put off reading for a short while. That ended up working (in fact I used several reccs over the last couple years for this) but I found myself curious to know what else you guys consider to be a total waste of literacy, let me know!!!

could you explain the goal a bit more i am not sure i understand? you mean like trashy but fun books or just horrible books?

Irene Iddesleigh by Amanda McKittrick Ros

JRR Tolkien used to challenge people to read it out loud without laughing at the excessive descriptions and archaic language.

    3. In The Wake Of The Plague: The Black Death and The World It Made by Norman Cantor. For when you just really need a digression on 9/11 in a book about 1300s Europe, and you really want someone to take those medieval peasants to task for not inventing communism.

My sister read the Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi and it made her lose faith in the publishing industry.

I’m having to go round upvoting everybody because someone was so upset by the premise of this post that they downvoted literally everyone here

    7. I really hated None of This is True by Lisa Jewel. It was definitely rage inducing. The love for this book truly baffles me haha

Anything by Gari Lutz, pure naval gazing garbage, almost like a stereotype of when people complain about post modern writing.

      Anything by Donald Barthelme.

I’ve also been reading part of House Of Holes but haven’t gone back to it in awhile, something this dumb could only have been written by a smart person.
