The writer is funny! I find that this is not talked about enough. Maybe it's because in the English translation it loses its magic. In German, it is beautifully sarcastic and humorous, describing the darker scenes in a dry/distant and ironic way. And the voice is so baroque. The narrator feels like from that time. The combination of those elements makes the book very fun to read. Do you have any recs with that vibe?
