Pleaaaase recommend me forbidden love books. Doesn’t even have to be actual forbidden, maybe just that the lovers *think* it’s forbidden, they’re a secret or something. I would also prefer if they had a tragic ending. I am yearning to be tortured by the tragic forbidden love stories. Good endings are also welcome, we gotta have some happiness as well.

    (No, not Romeo and Juliet🥲)

Wuthering Heights is basically the gold standard for this kind of emotional destruction. Catherine and Heathcliff will absolutely wreck you and the whole thing spirals into generational trauma that’s somehow beautiful and horrifying at the same time

For something more recent try The Song of Achilles – Greek mythology setting with Achilles and Patroclus and yeah you know how that one ends but the journey there is incredible

    2. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern! It’s about two young adults who are raised by rival magicians to eventually face off against each other. The “battlefield” for this face off is a circus that they develop that only appears at night, where the two young adults are meant to create these amazing attractions to show off their magical prowess. It’s got a very dreamlike aesthetic!
