Hi, I tagged it as "horror" even though I don't think it's the most accurate title. I was looking for recommendations or suggestions for similar books, with a similar tone and reading level, as I've tried others but found them very difficult. I'd also like to read books in the style of A Clockwork Orange. Cheers! Thanks.

Kafka’s stuff hits this weird sweet spot where it’s unsettling without being straight horror ya know. If you want that same existential dread vibe try some Camus – The Stranger is pretty accessible and has that same “everything is absurd and pointless” energy that Metamorphosis does. For the Clockwork Orange style you might dig Slaughterhouse Five since Vonnegut does that dark humor mixed with serious themes thing really well
The language barrier with some of these classics can be brutal but stick with translations that feel more modern – makes a huge difference. Also Shirley Jackson writes psychological weird stuff that’s way easier to get through than most literary fiction if you want something creepy but readable
