Looking for some good literary fiction recs. I just started 1Q84 and I’m loving it so far. I haven’t read like any fiction in two years (been reading mostly fantasy but need a break). For reference, some of my favorite fiction authors are: Sally Rooney, Satoshi Yagisawa, and Paul Murray.

If you like Murakami, check out Ruth Ozeki too! Her writing is more grounded, but feels very inspired by Murakami
Any David Mitchell novel but especially Cloud Atlas, The Thousand Autumns of Jacob De Zoet (my favorite) or Black Swan Green.
The Thief by Fuminori Nakamura.
The Yiddish Policeman’s Union by Michael Chabon.
A Soldier of the Great War and Memoir from Antproof Case by Mark Helprin.
Skippy Dies is my favorite Paul Murray book. You’ve probably read it but if not, please do so.
