Looking for literary Detective Fiction!

Hey everybody,
So, I'm looking for a specific type of novel, and I'm open to all suggestions! I love detective fiction or detective like protagonists. Stories that emanate from that dynamic. But I'm looking for novels that hit more than just the beats, more than just serve the genre. I was particularly taken with Tana French's Dublin Murder Squad series. And I love True Detective season 1 if that gives people touchstones for the kind of the thing I'm looking for. Thanks everyone!
