I'm looking for recommendations of books that you thought for whatever reason that you would dislike but surprisingly ended up liking/really exceeded your expectations!
I recently read A Psalm for the Wild Built and was pleasantly surprised – I thought it'd be too saccharine for me but I actually really liked it.
Thanks 🙂

I remember being forced to read to kill a Mockingbird in high school.
I absolutely loved it.
Same reaction with Huckleberry Finn.
Silas Marner by George Eliot. I read it because I was bored, it was on the bookshelf, and I realized that I knew the classics pretty well but had never read anything by her. I was expecting to be bored and underwhelmed. But I loved it.
Dungeon Crawler Carl. I’m almost mad at myself for liking it so much lol
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, because of the hype. But it was actually a worthy read and not nearly as trashy as I expected.
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. I thought the magical realism would make it hard for me to get into but it was a page turner.
