Buddy reading with my sister and she enjoys science fiction and fantasy. Those aren't genres I typically reach for, but I enjoyed Scythe and Ready Player One. I loved Clytemnestra.

    1. Cordwainer Smith’s fiction, written in a very accessible and well-crafted prose style, consists, with the exception of a couple of books, of short stories about human evolution (or lack thereof) throughout the centuries. His main series is the Instrumentaluty of mankind . The stories are varied and of high narrative and fictional quality.

    2. Project Hail Mary is basically a sci fi book with Marvel style writing. Extremely simple prose and all.

    3. Ilona Andrews Innkeeper Chronicles –A magic Inn, space werewolves and vampires, a lot of really unique aliens, mystery, romance, action, a fun and humorous series

You might like Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, it’s fast-paced and very easy to get into. Also Project Hail Mary is engaging and has a lot of momentum, even if you don’t usually read sci-fi. For fantasy, The House in the Cerulean Sea is a lighter, quick read with a really warm tone.
