I am in need of some recommendations, I can feel a dip in my mood and mental health and want some new books (ideally also great audiobooks), but wanting these to be easy listening but still tick my other normal boxes.
I love series, characters that are built and that you connect with, sci-fi, worlds that you feel immersed into but without endless unnecessary pages upon pages of descriptions.
Whilst I wouldn’t mind bits of sadness or tension type thing which is normally part of what I love in a series, but for this I want for the most part for it to be uplifting/happy/funny etc
I would say my favourite author(s) would be RR Haywood and Andy Weir.
I loved The One Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window and Disappeared books but haven’t listened or read any of the others from Jonas, if people have any recommendations from his work?
TLDR:
Getting a bit low, want happy/funny sci-fi/nerdy/alt-history books to get me out the funk – Ideally with a good audiobook option

Bobiverse by Dennis Taylor
Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold.
Both have their moments of the “exploring ideas” part of sci-fi, but they’re pretty light and forward moving overall.
Non-fiction ***What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions*** by Randall Munroe narrated by Wil Wheaton.
It consists of a series of questions on pop-sci and pop-culture, each answered in one or two paragraphs. The answers are hilarious in a dry-humored way.
An example question is: What would happen if you hit a baseball pitched at 90% of the speed of light?
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. For audio, the original BBC radio series is good.
