2 part question actually!

Reading books from a particular category or reading all books from one author? I love murder mystery and during covid I read Agatha Christie's maybe 13 books because i got super hooked to this category. Im not confident if ill find another author like her. Any suggestions on what method you use and what works best usually???

Also I noticed that i'm always racing myself to finish the book and when I get to the end of it I forget most of the plot!!!!! Which is stupid ik!!!! Whenever I read a book I visualize every sentence so I have a visual story going on in my mind as I read it do you think reading more will help my memory? What's your technique to make sure you absorb your read and not just for the count?
Thanks!

same problem with forgetting plot lol
for mystery try Louise Penny maybe? her writing hits different vibe than Christie but still good
i started keeping small notebook next to me when reading, just write down random thoughts or cool quotes. helps me remember better than racing through pages
