Hello! I’ve always like the setting of a roadside motel in the middle of nowhere with little else around. There could be a diner and a gas station or something, but mostly an empty road for many miles with not a lot of people around. I like the usage of strange visitors, little mysteries, and isolation.
I think it’s probably most commonly used in thrillers, but I’m happy to hear suggestions in a variety of genres. Also, it doesn’t have to match my description perfectly. If you know something that sounds like it’s for me, but isn’t a perfect match, go ahead.
I mostly have enjoyed this setting in other forms of media, so it’s still helpful to recommend fairly well known books. I think The Shining and 14 are the closest I’ve read. Also I tend to like things that are a bit weird rather than basic, so go wild!

Also watch the classic Hitchcock movie Psycho. Also sorry, another movie but Identity (2003) is a great motel movie!
