Hello! Looking for 1-2 books I can start on an upcoming long flight. Would prefer something not only available in hardcover so it can be lighter for traveling. For context, here books I’ve loved in the past / recently:
– Normal People by Sally Rooney
– Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
– Lost Lambs by Madeline Cash
– Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan
– In the Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado
– The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead
– Sorrow and Bliss Meg Mason
Tempted to just re read demon copperhead casue I loved it so much but why not try new things!!!
Love memoirs, fiction mostly but open to anything!

Jade City by Fonda Lee is a wonderful adventure, 500+ pages but goes by fast.
I recently had a long haul flight, and I enjoyed The Midnight’s children. I read it on Kindle. Loved it so much.
God of the Woods by Liz Moore- mystery/thriller set in the 50-70s ish, multiple POVs, engaging storyline. I finished it in about 6 hours of flights, but I read abnormally quickly when a book gets my attention. I think it’s around 500 pages?
Since you like Whitehead, try The Underground Railroad or Zone One. Memoirs of a Geisha by William Golden.
Lonesome Dove
Books of longing
You can read the first two books in Colson Whitehead’s Harlem trilogy, *Harlem Shuffle* and *Crook Manifesto.* The third, *Cool Machine*, will be released in July.
If you haven’t read them yet, I liked Kingsolver’s *Poisonwood Bible* and *Animal Dreams*.
A couple other novels you may like if you’ve yet to read them are Min Jin Lee’s *Pachinko*, Louise Erdrich’s *The Night Watchman,* Percival Everett’s *James*, and Tommy Orange’s *There There.*
