Okay so here’s the deal, I went to go out Of Blood and Fire on hold at my library and they don’t have it- I requested the title but as of now they don’t have it and I’m not someone who buys books, so I was like fine hopefully they buy it but in the meantime I went to go put Ascendant by Michael R Miller of hold- they don’t have that either!! So now I’m just craving a big, fun fantasy and my mind is blanking. I don’t have many preferences but I’ll list some random stuff idk
– I’d like it to be a few books but not huge- like 4-6 books but I’m not so picky on that
– I don’t want such a dark story- I was going to read The Blade Itself but that feels wayyy too dark and intense for right now
– I love (LOVE) world building and complex characters, but I’m pretty picky about writing style- if it’s hard to read I’ll simply DNF I’m okay with wonky pacing but I prefer fast paced stories
– yes I read The Way of Kings, yes I really loved it, Ive read the first Mistborn- no I haven’t read The Wheel of Time I’m too intimidated lol but like say the word and I’ll do it
– I have also read LotR
– I would prefer a book that came out in the last like 30 years or so. The newer the better as long as my darn library has it
– I would prefer little to no romance, and if there is romance it should be pretty PG to PG-13 if i wanted to read smut id go read smut but this is not the time for smut you know?
Someone please help I just need a like the classic fantasy vibe- hero, magic, mythical creatures, quests, swords, war(?), dragons? maybe? idk maybe a good prophecy? just that VIBE that makes you fall in love with a fantasy series you know?

The Jasmine throne by Tasha Suri
Theft of swords by Michael J. Sullivan
Half a king by joe abercrombie. Book one in a revenge trilogy. The main character makes the most sacred of vows to avenge his father’s death. A sky vow and an earth vow of revenge. Technically this is in the far future after they lose modern technology and revert back to medieval times. They consider modern humans as elves and our shit as elf magic.
The Sun Sword by Michelle West. It is part of a larger series, but TSS can absolutely be read as a standalone.
Innocent Mage / Awakened Mage by Karen Miller was a good and interesting premise
