Any books you can suggest that are similar in vibe and theme, but are closer to how PHM was written? I think Hitchhiker's Guide was harder because of some idioms and some sentences written weirdly. (Ex: "filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea." took me a few minutes to understand xD)l I'm not a native English speaker, but I am fluent-ish

Project Hail Mary hits different because Weir writes so direct and clear, even when explaining complex science stuff. The humor comes from situations and character reactions instead of wordplay like Douglas Adams does
I had same experience with Hitchhiker’s – all those twisted sentences and British humor made me read paragraphs twice sometimes. Adams loves to make simple things sound complicated just for the joke, but Weir keeps everything straightforward even when talking about advanced physics
You might enjoy Becky Chambers’ books, especially A Closed and Common Orbit. She writes with similar clarity but has that optimistic sci-fi feel like Project Hail Mary. Also check out anything by Martha Wells – her writing style is clean and she doesn’t hide meaning behind fancy language tricks. The Murderbot series starts simple but gets really good as you go through the books
