I am going to Mexico to study Spanish and I generally like to read a few books about the history and culture of the area before I go, preferably historical fiction.
For example, I really liked reading a moveable feast before a trip to Paris.
Probably my favorite book series, The Border Trilogy by Cormac McCarthy, is set in Mexico/border towns and I would really like to find similar books. Books that take place in any time period are fine but I would like to find something set in between the 19th century and now, so that the culture is still semi relatable.
Thanks all!
