My GF is looking for some lighthearted and fun reads to help deal with the recent passing of her dad. Any recommendations? She typically likes reading historical fiction and has read a lot of thrillers but is looking for something that won't be depressing or scary.

The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck: How to Stop Spending Time You Don’t Have with People You Don’t Like Doing Things You Don’t Want to Do by Sarah Knight
Samantha Larsen’s Lady Librarian Mysteries are pretty fun. Georgian England, the first book is about the protagonist pretending to be her brother while trying to solve his murder. (Full disclosure, I ARC read the most recent two of these.)
Bemused by Farrah Rochon is a backstory for the Muses from Disney’s Hercules. It’s such a fun read.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett is a historical lighter fantasy set in I think 1909ish. It’s basically historical fiction about a researcher but her topic is the fae because they’re real. I don’t think anything truly scary happens in it.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson but this has mention of her positive relationship with her dad and might be triggering?
