Books that feel like The Secret Life of Walter Mitter or Mrs. Endicott's Splendid Adventure.
I just read Mrs. Endicott's and I'm in love. The book was gorgeous and exhilarating.
The stories you suggest do not have to have the travel aspect, just a theme of someone who does the same thing everyday, locked into a box, breaking free and finding joy.

Travels With My Aunt – G*raham Greene*
Just Stab Me Now by Jill Bearup. The MC Caroline is stuck in a rut in life and work. She writes cheaply romance novels as a hobby. This time her Protag talks back. And fights back. And helps Caroline break free, too.
I liked “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine”. I’m not familiar with the other book you mentioned, but I think Eleanor might fit your requirements 🙂
