I will be in the waiting room for what I suspect will be a long time and I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder (wheeee!) so I need some book suggestions. I mentioned mysteries/thrillers but really I just need something that I cannot put down to distract me. I would prefer books that aren't nightmare fuel lol.

I’m so sorry. My mom had triple bypass surgery recently and she’s doing great. But the surgery was seven hours.
I will say this is not the kind of book I typically read, but because I’m an anxious flyer, I took a recommendation for a book that grabs you right away and read Dungeon Crawler Carl. I’m listening to Book 2 on audio, now.
Best of luck to your dad!

Sending good thoughts for your dad. For a waiting room, I’d go with something fast and low-nightmare: The Thursday Murder Club is cozy mystery, funny, and very readable. If you want pure comfort instead, The House in the Cerulean Sea is gentle but still absorbing.
All the best! Hope the surgery goes well. There is a book called The Golden Years by Ruskin Bond. It’s a light read with short chapters. The writing is beautiful and the best part about the book is you don’t necessarily need to read it in a sequence. You can open any chapter and read it and you’ll still feel good.
