I am a gay-male currently in a graduate nursing program doing my MSN research project and I am studying men who have sex with men (MSM) and HIV/AIDS healthcare/primary care (past, present, and future treatments/research), however, I want to touch a little on the psychology of human sexuality, specifically in regards to MSM. I did my bachelors in psychology so I have this little itch that I want to scratch and include the psychology/behaviors of these individuals.
I would like to get outside perspectives because maybe some of you reading this have read books I have yet to discover or didn't think of, which would help educate me further in this area and be able to enhance my research paper.
I was browsing 'Evolutionary Psychology' texts, specifically by Dr. David Buss from UoT at Austin since most of their research is on evolutionary psychology and human sexuality. Though most of which have an inclination to heterosexual folks, but I want to focus on Queer/LGBTQ+ MSM since this is the area of healthcare I hope to work in the future as a FNP/primary care provider caring for LGBTQ+ patients.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!
Note: I added NSFW flair to expand the options and recommendations given to me. If any of your recommendations should touch upon more 'darker' themes of human sexuality and behaviors, it's not something I would shy away from. The only texts I would have to respectfully decline reading or looking into are those that are heavy/more focused on religious indoctrination, 'gay is a choice', pro-abstinence, pro-conversion therapy, etc.
