Hey I'm searching for a coming of age book where the main characters are black. I don't want the book main plot to be black struggle (racism, gang violence, extrem poverety, teen pregnency …), It's summer and i want to read something warm sweet and positive if it could be black love as well that'd be great I'd prefer a female narrator and i can read both in french and in english

the hate u give might not work since it deals with police violence but have you looked into older stuff like their eyes were watching god? zora neale hurston wrote it back in the day and its got that warm southern vibe youre talking about
also maybe try some contemporary romance authors who write black characters without making trauma the whole plot. there’s definitely stuff out there that focuses more on family dynamics and relationships rather than all the heavy topics you want to avoid
the tricky part is finding ya that doesnt lean into those struggle narratives but they exist for sure
