I'm looking for books that reveal their true nature and the scale of the story shifts or expands entirely. I am a fan of how Clair Obscur handled this. Specifically, the small hints throughout that the world isn't what it seems.
I am looking for something with that same level of magnitude. It does not have to be about the nature of reality or some sort of existential crisis, but it should be large enough that it makes you want to reread it again just the see what details you missed. It's also important that there are subtle hints, which you could reasonably piece together to uncover the twist, not something obscure that cheats the reader.
Thank you all for your help!

Harrow the Ninth! You will have to read Gideon tbr Ninth first, which also has this but to a lease degree.
The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones – there’s one scene partway through that gave me serious whiplash in the best way
