Hey everyone,
I was wondering if someone had any recommendation for me about Greek mythology?
I really want to learn about the actual story, like for exemple Persephone and the pomegranates
Is it the odessy? The Iliad? Or a third title I don’t know 😅 I would love to learn more about it without reading an encyclopedia
(I mostly listen to audible while working)
Thanks in advance

The Odyssey and Iliad are great but they focus more on specific heroes journeys rather than all the mythology stories you mentioned
For actual myth collections I’d recommend looking for books that compile the classic tales – there are some really good modern retellings that cover everything from Persephone to Pandora without being dry like textbooks. Stephen Fry has written some accessible ones that work well in audio format since you mentioned Audible
Bulfinch’s Mythology- good collection of myths
Anything by Joseph Campbell – more about myths/ how and why human tell them
Pandora’s Jar- talks about myths and the lost context modern audiences no longer have
Hesiod’s Theogony and Works and Days
I read Edith Hamilton’s Mythology in childhood and adulthood and liked it a lot it both times.
