Been reading this Japanese author who writes about people moving to countryside villages and starting over. There’s one about a guy who quits his office job and opens small cafe in mountain town – really peaceful stuff with lots of descriptions about daily routines and changing seasons. Also found some books about people who become park rangers or work at wildlife sanctuaries, those have that slow mountain life vibe you’re looking for. The writing style is usually pretty gentle too, not much drama just people figuring out simple living. Library might have whole section for this kind of thing if you ask librarian about “rural fiction” or something like that.

I would recommend The Living Mountain and Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. Love both of them
