The Kite Runner absolutely destroyed me in best possible way. I remember staying up until like 3am because I couldn’t put it down and then just sitting there staring at ceiling for another hour processing everything. Something about how it builds up this friendship and then just… yeah the guilt and redemption themes hit so deep when you don’t see it coming

Moby Dick. The transcendental style Melville uses to compose scenes is gorgeous. There’s a passage about Ishmael dozing off while up in the sails and feeling himself absorbed into the whole environment around him, and I’ve yet to find a book that evokes the same feelings I had while reading it.
